our programs

Support for Families

We help nurture and support families, by providing them with options to better manage life and family challenges. Some of our programs include:

Parenting support:

  • Triple P (Positive Parenting Program)- helps develop skills to build strong family relationships
  • Bringing up Great Kids program- for parents wanting to improve the relationships with their children

For children:

  • Kiddy Katz and Kidz group – for children impacted by domestic violence
  • Supported Playgroup- for children ages 0-5 years

The parenting programs can be accessed one-on-one or in a group. All are welcome.

Domestic Violence Support

Domestic violence impacts everyone- women, children, men, and families.

Our staff are domestic violence specialists who work in a confidential, safe, and inclusive way.

Get the help you need in our domestic violence support programs that:

  • address domestic violence issues
  • support women and children escaping violent relationships
  • support women to stay safely in their own homes
  • provide ongoing support
  • ensure children are safer and supported
  • advocacy with other organisations, legal matters, and the Police                         

We also provide support for men who are ready to take responsibility for their violence, in our Men’s Behaviour Change programs.

Staying Home Leaving Violence

Staying Home Leaving Violence program at Kempsey Families supports women and children to stay safely in their home.

Intensive Case Management

Intensive Case Management engages men who have used domestic violence in past or current relationships, and those at risk of incarceration due to re-offending.

Engage2Change
Men’s Behaviour Change Program

Engage2Change is a 19-week (maximum) Men’s Behaviour Change program. The program supports men in exploring their use of domestic violence in a respectful setting that supports behaviour change.

We help women and children experiencing violence to stay safely in their homes, support children, and provide ongoing case management or case coordination. 

Our parenting programs support parents/carers to improve relationships with their children, we have support for children impacted by domestic violence, as well as supported playgroups for children aged 0- 5 years.

Support for Children & Young People

Children aged 0-17 years, young people and their parents are supported through our range of specialised programs:

  • Kiddy Katz is for children ages 5- 8 years impacted by domestic and family violence
  • Kidz group is for children ages 8- 12 years who have been impacted by domestic and family violence
  • Supported Playgroup is for children ages 0- 5 years and is one of our longest-running and most popular services
  • Specialised Family Worker (youth focus) for vulnerable young people ages 12- 17 years and their families
  • Young Parents Worker (DV specialist) for parents ages 14- 25 years and their children
  • Family Parenting and Group Facilitator for families with children under 12 in their care, or working to have them restored to their care

Support for Men

We support men who are ready to take responsibility for their use of violence, in a past or current relationship, in a safe, inclusive environment.

We support men to become more aware about their behaviours, explore the impacts of domestic violence and give them tools to better manage their emotions and conflict.

Our programs focus on engaging men in a respectful way and supporting them to make change.

All our staff are domestic violence specialists with accredited skills working with men and their use of violence.

Men can access the programs themselves or be referred by other agencies or family members.

Engage2Change
