Student placement

We believe that the future of the service system lies with today’s students, and we strongly support students in achieving their goals.

Kempsey Families has provided many opportunities for students undertaking their required hours of study placement.

TAFE NSW Kempsey is one of our key partners. After their placement, many students find employment in local community agencies, which ensures localised and committed staffing to support vulnerable members of the community.

We also work closely with Armidale, Wagga Wagga, Bathurst, and Newcastle Universities to provide a safe, informative, and inclusive placement based on the students’ needs.

We have limited capacity, so can only offer student placements on a case-by-case basis and can’t accept every application.

Thank you for offering me placement with Kempsey Families Inc to finalise my social work degree. Having the opportunity to do my placement with you is like a dream come true! I’ve started a new position since my placement. It’s definitely not the caseworker, supportive position I thought I would go into, but it’s going OK. Now I’ve finished my Diploma of Community Services I’ve started further study into Domestic and Family Violence and also Mental Health. So keeping busy and hoping it will help to change roles in the future. I still miss being at Kempsey Families doing my placement and miss interacting at playgroup with the other Mums.
