MARCH 8TH 2023
International Womens Day
IWDA was established in 1985, through the initiative and insight of three Australian women; Ruth Pfanner, Wendy Pussard and Wendy Rose with the aim to progress the rights of women. Since then, we have worked with grassroots and national organisations, State and Federal governments in Australia to defend and advance the rights of women locally, in our region and around the world.
In 2015 the Australian government made a historic commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The goals explicitly outline a commitment to gender equality and IWDA is committed to working with the government to ensure this goal is met by 2030.
"Our vision is for a safe, equitable and inclusive society where children,
families and communities are safe, healthy, resilient, and connected."
