National Sorry Day Commemoration – May 26th, 2026

National Sorry Day Commemoration – May 26th, 2026

Each year, 26 May marks National Sorry Day, acknowledging the experiences and strength of the Stolen Generations and reflecting on what is needed to address their healing. In Kempsey this is especially important due to the connection with Kinchela Boys Home.

A commemoration is held in Kempsey for Sorry Day each year at Kempsey Train Station with KBHAC (Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation) as the lead agency.

This year the event is also being driven by Learning the Macleay (LtM) & Dhina Durriti Aboriginal Corporation (DDAC).
