Position Context:
Kempsey Families Inc. (KF Inc.) is a not-for-profit organisation providing a range of specialist services for women, children, young people, families / caregivers, and men.
The Intensive Case Worker (ICM) for men will be positioned in the Men’s Behaviour Change programs and provide support for men prior, during or post engaging with the programs for men who use violence in an intimate partner relationship, either in a past or a current relationship.
About the Position
The program is a targeted program for men who have used domestic or family violence in their present or past relationships. The ICM case worker will provide initial intensive case management to meet the complex identified needs of these men. The position ais aimed at providing support to men who have used abusive and controlling behaviours towards their partners or family members so they can seek ways to change their behaviour and work consistently to keep women and children safe in the process. The case worker will work within the Men’s Behaviour Change team in this role and will include working closely with the intake, assessment and facilitation worker and the women and children’s advocate guided by the MBCP Coordinator.
The ICM worker will provide support to men in Kempsey, Nambucca Valley including Bowraville and Macksville and also Port Macquarie.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide intensive case management guide by the Risk, Safety, Support (RSSF)Framework for men within the delivery of the Men’s behaviour Change Program (MBCP) for the Kempsey, Nambucca Valley’s, and Port Macquarie LGA.
- In consultation with the MBCP coordinator, provide an overall assessment of the identified needs and supports required, including assessment of mental health status, D&A supports, housing needs, education and training, Family Law, other legal matters and grief and loss /trauma impacts.
- Participate with the MBCP coordinator to assess risk, safety planning and management of any identified risk including risk to self and or family members.
- Develop and monitor case management plans and file work, for MBCP ICM clients.
- Support clients to achieve identified goals and maintain an ongoing review and updates toward gaols achieved in the longer-term case management period.
- Consult with all local and regional agencies that can assist and offer case coordination options toward meeting the identified gaols.
- Maintain all client case notes, records, and statistical data as required.
- Build and sustain networks related to MBCP-ICM clients, to ensure currency of information for the client.
- Attend meetings, conferences and training as required.
- Always represent Kempsey Families Inc. in the community in a positive manner
Essential Criteria
- Relevant tertiary qualification and / or three years minimum experience with significant working experience in housing support, domestic, family, and sexual violence field(DFSV), and / or men’s behaviour change sector (MBC).
- Sound understanding of the theory and practice as it relates to working with men who use violence against women and children.
- The ability to develop effective working relationships with clients, government and non-government agencies, external stakeholders, and other Kempsey Families staff.
- Experience in responding to complex client needs as a practitioner.
- A pro-feminist approach to understanding and working with domestic and family violence and a demonstrated understanding of the social and gendered context of domestic and family violence and the impacts on women and children.
- Be able to demonstrate an understanding and use of trauma informed, non-collusive, invitational support.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to negotiate and collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated time management, risk assessment skills, and mitigation strategies.
- Ability to demonstrate culturally sensitive practice in relation to domestic and family violence and/or men’s behaviour change field.
- Knowledge of social issues – DFSV, homelessness, drug and alcohol and mental health.
- Advanced administrative and organisational skills with a willingness to maintain a comprehensive knowledge of studies, trends, and training in the Housing, DFSV and MBCP space.
- Demonstrated experience and application of intermediate computer skills including Excel, Microsoft and data gathering and evaluation.
- Current Working with Children Check and current Criminal / Police record check.
- Current NSW Drivers’ Licence
- NSW Health Covid Vaccination Certification or Medical Exemption
Desirable
- Ability to work independently yet also a team player who embraces collaboration, inclusion, integrity with overall calmness.
- Experience in trauma informed practice that upholds client’s dignity.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the service sector across the Mid North Coast
- Willingness or capacity to train observe/co-facilitate group sessions.
